Check Calls

Check calls are one of the biggest time sucks of any 3PL, Shipper, or Dispatcher. It takes time away from doing revenue-generating tasks and relies on the word of another person. Additionally, incessantly calling a driver is not only annoying to the driver dealing with a multitude of issues on the road, it’s dangerous.

Losses with reefer freight

The reefer unit breaks or a coolant leak from the equalizer tube could cause be the source for a large claim. Along with the carrier, a produce broker or a buyer can be additionally subject to liability after produce has been loaded. Medical supplies like insulin or other sensitive temperature-controlled items requiring freeze protection should be monitored closely with an external resource in order to remain proactive and prevent a disaster. Losses with this type of freight are extremely costly.

Claims

Claims not only fall under losses with freight and to bring them to halt is unrealistic but the inefficient time spent on them can be ameliorated. When inventory is in motion, over-the-road (OTR) or transloaded, the potential for accidents increase. With whom shall a claim be filed? This is usually a finger-pointing fiasco that is as old as the industry itself. Was it damaged during the loading process? Did it get damaged while on the road from sudden braking or jolting? Was it loaded incorrectly or without proper dunnage? Did the consignee damage the goods during the unloading process?

LTL Tracking

Anyone shipping LTL freight enough knows not all LTL carriers are the same and receiving accurate information of a pallet’s whereabouts is just not the same as when shipping a Full Truckload. A great improvement over the past six years is the ability to know when the shipment has arrived to a terminal. Where it is in the terminal and when it will arrive to the consignee, is a part of the shipment cycle still greatly lacking visibility.
